Masala Chai (Masala tea)



Tea is always a refreshing drink in the evening and morning. It always gives an energy for the entire day in the moring and will always take away all the stress in the evening. So let's try something different with the preparation of tea which gives a good taste and aroma to our oridanry tea......Let's start



Ingredients

*  For making tea


*  Milk-1 cup


*  Water-1, 1/2 cup


*  Tea leaves-2, 1/2 teaspoon


*  Sugar-as you need.



*  Masala powder (already made) -1\2 teaspoon.

*  For making masala powder.

*  Cardamom - 5 nos.


*  Cinnamon -2 short


*  Cloves-6 pieces


*  Dry ginger (powdered) -2 tablespoon


*  Pepper-1 teaspoon


*  Anis seeds-1 teaspoon

Direction

*  Grind together all the spices to get masala powder.


*  Pour the milk and water in a sauce pan.

*  Add ½ teaspoon of the above powdered masala powder.


*  When it boils, reduce the flame and add sugar and tea leaves.


* Close the pan with a lid and allow it to simmer for 2 more minutes.


*  When it is done, strain the tea and serve it hot.

Mango Lassi

 As it it Mango season, I think Mango lassi is the absolute dish or drink that I can share with you in this hot summer. This drink is so yummy and tasty and chills our body and soul. It is a health drink as well as a soothing drink in hot summers. So let's start the preparation.....







Ingredients


*  Plain Yogurt - 1 cup

*  Mango Pulp or ripe mango - 1 cup

*  Cardamon powder - 1 teaspoon

*  Sugar/ Honey -2 tablespoon

*  Ice cubes crushed - as required

*  Salt - a pinch

* Milk -1/2 cup

Directions

*  Mix everything well in a blender except the ice cubes.

*  First put some crushed ice-cubes in a glass and pour the mixture over the ice cubes.

* Garnish it with mint leaves and mango slices and serve chilled.

Sambahram / Morum vellam (Buttermilk water)

Having a glass of sambharam in the hot summers gives a soothing effect not only to body but also to the entire soul. This is a simple, traditional and easy homemade drink most popular in Kerala. This drink is very healthy and gives a cooling effect to the body. I still remember the good old days, that my grandmother makes healthy and tasty sambharam for the entire family during the hot summer afternoons... So lets look how to make it and what are its ingredients...


  

                                                                                                                                                                    Ingredients


  • Moru or Buttermilk - 1 cup
  • Green Chilli - 2 nos.
  • Ginger - a small piece
  • Curry leaves - 2 sprig
  • Salt - as needed.
  • Water - 1/2 cup
 Directions
             Mix every thing well in a container.
             You can either chop the green chilli and ginger and use it or else just crush it in a crusher or mixie.

Naaranga vellam (Lemon juice)

Lemon juice has been a refreshing drink in hot summers. A glass of chilled lime juice gives a soothing effect to your body. Lemon juice is made in diffent ways in diffent  parts of the world. Here I am going to share with you one such method of preparing tasty lime juice. This method of making lime juice is being handed over to me by my brother, who used to try different dishes with different recipes.







Ingredients

* Two juicy lemons

* Two black pepper

* One Cardamom seed

* Sugar as you need.

* 4 cups of Soda or water


Let's see how to make lemon juice.

* Peel off the outer skin of lemon.

*Cut it into pieces and remove its seeds.

* In a mixer grinder, grind the lemon pieces with sugar, pepper, cardamom seeds and water.

* You can add some pieces of outer skin of lemon if you need extra lemon flavou.

* Add ice cubes to it.

*Serve it chilled.....and Enjoy....
