Thenga Chammandi (Coconut Chutney)

Thenga chammandi is the perfect dish when we think of homely food. To have a steaming plate of Kanji with thenga chammandi is the perfect combo for dinner. Not only it is tasty, it is very healthy too.... My three year old little daughter loves this combination very much and will be asking it everyday for her dinner. So let start......Please note that no mixer grinders can give you the perfect taste of Chammandi which is being grinded in the traditional arakallu or ammikallu...

Ingredients

* One cup of greated coconut

* 1,1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder.

* 1/2 teaspoon of chopped ginger

* 2 small shallots

* 1 sprig of curry leaves.

* 1 tablespoon of Coconut oil

 * A small lemon sized tamarind

* Salt as you need.

Lets start

* :Heat oil in a frying pan and saute ginger, shallots, curry leaves into it.

* Saute it till its raw taste is gone.

* When it is done, add the grated coconut into it and fry for a minute or two.

* Do not brown the coconut.

* Grind all the ingredients together.

* Do not add any water.

* Enjoy it with a steaming plate of kanji..........
